The Signal Ranger is a fixed point DSP board featuring a 100 MHz TMS320C5402
DSP and a full-speed USB interface, providing fast communication
and power to the board. Its Windows driver allows the connection
of up to 127 boards to a single USB root (limited only by the USB
1 standard).

Customer’s Comments :
"Must point out that the board has been extremely reliable and rugged and thereby
contributes to the reliability of our product. This concerns both hardware as well as
driver side. Other boards, including those from TI, are not so reliable."
- Dr. R. Sunder (Partner of TestResources (www.testresources.com), USA, founder
of BiSS Research, Bangalore, India, and author of many articles on advanced metals fatigue)
"I know more expensive DSP boards from a developer’s point of view, and yours is a really well-
designed piece of hardware. Writing the Linux driver was fun, and writing the DSP code for the SR is
even more fun -- it just works! Also I’m impressed by the features the CoolRunner can offer
-- not only digital IO, but counters and timers especially!." - Percy Zahl, SPM specialist and developer, http://sranger.sourceforge.net
Fields of Application
The Signal Ranger is particularly suitable for a variety of applications,
including:
- Multi-channel speech and audio acquisition and processing
- Multi-channel control
- Instrumentation and measurement
- Vibro-acoustic analysis (consult SR-8Channel Analyzer)
- Acoustic Array processing/Beam forming
- DSP software development
A Software Environment Designed to Accelerate Your DSP Development
- USB "Plug and Play" drivers for Windows 9x/Me/2000/XP/Server 2003 and Linux
- High-level libraries (DLLs) allowing the development of PC
applications using the board
- LabView interface allowing the development of LabView applications
using the board
- Unlike those of most competitors, all our sources are available (full open-source)
- Complete and documented code examples (PC side and DSP side)
illustrating the use of the LabView interface and access DLLs,
and jump-starting the development:
- Signal Tracker: a simple signal analyzer
- Response Tracker: a white noise correlator to identify
the impulse response between an analog output and an analog input
in real time
- DSP I/O driver simplifying the development of the DSP code using
the analog I/Os. The driver is written in assembly code and uses
the DMA for greater efficiency. It can be used in C or assembly
programs. The source code is provided.
- Complete debugger with high-level features: dynamic code execution,
real-time read/write memory, symbolic access to DSP variables
and functions, and graphic DSP data presentation
A Technology Designed to Accelerate DSP Learning
- Complete user manual including code examples to facilitate
the development process
- Unparalleled tools for teaching DSP technology to college and
university students
Complete course of DSP technology by Bruno Paillard
