Delivering acoustic comfort at a global scale is never a small task—especially when the audience includes international delegations from more than 150 countries. As part of the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games preparations, Soft dB sound masking solutions were integrated into the Olympic Village in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, helping support speech privacy and acoustic comfort in a complex, high-profile environment.
This ambitious project involved installing sound-masking systems across three buildings in the Olympic Village, located on Via Fiames in Cortina d’Ampezzo. These buildings will serve as temporary residences and operational spaces for international delegations during the Games, making acoustic performance a critical factor in occupant comfort, rest, and well-being.
A Complex Acoustic Environment
Olympic infrastructure projects present unique acoustic challenges. The buildings are highly serviced, with dense mechanical systems designed to meet strict performance, safety, and redundancy requirements. Rather than diminishing the value of the project, this experience reinforces the importance of early acoustic coordination in large-scale developments—especially those involving complex building systems and international standards.
A Successful Collaboration
Despite these challenges, the overall system installation was completed successfully, and the sound masking solution is functioning as designed across the majority of the occupied spaces. The project stands as a strong example of collaboration between infrastructure owners, local partners, and specialized acoustic manufacturers.
Soft dB is proud to have supported this initiative alongside MICROBEL, under the direction of Società Infrastrutture Milano – Cortina 2020–2026 S.p.A., the organization responsible for delivering critical Olympic infrastructure. Projects of this scale require not only technical expertise but also flexibility, transparency, and a shared commitment to quality.
Acoustics That Support Performance
For athletes, delegates, and support staff, acoustic comfort is not a luxury—it is a performance factor. Well-designed sound environments help reduce stress, improve concentration, and support rest and recovery, especially in high-pressure international events like the Olympic Games.
Being part of the Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympic Village project is a milestone for Soft dB and a testament to how sound masking can contribute to world-class environments when thoughtfully applied. We are proud of the work accomplished and grateful for the trust placed in our solutions as the world prepares to gather in Cortina for Milano–Cortina 2026.
