Some of Us Are Athletes…

We take pride in our work and the acoustic solutions we develop. But we’re even prouder of the fact that we have the best possible people on our side to help us do it. And given how striving for excellence at work is naturally taken for granted, striving for excellence outside of work should always be celebrated. Behind every high achiever at work is often a high achiever in his or her every day personal life. That’s right, outside of work, some of us are devoted parents, passionate artists, skilled musicians, coding geeks… and some of us are athletes.

Take for instance Jason Booij, our sound masking sales manager for Western Canada and Northwestern US. He’s a triathlete. But not just your regular triathlete. Jason competes in some of the world’s toughest long-distance triathlon races: he’s an IRONMAN finisher.

Competing Among the Elite

More than 5500 of the world’s finest athletes were registered to compete in Nice, France last September 7 and 8 at the 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. In order to qualify for this prestigious sporting event, more than 200,000 age-group athletes competed to earn slots at over a hundred IRONMAN 70.3 events held worldwide throughout the year. Being as much of a competitive Ironman triathlete as he is a performance driven sales manager, Jason unsurprisingly made the cut into the elite.

Tackling the 2019 Ironman 70.3 Triathlon in Nice

Among the most-committed 30-34 age group competitors, Jason tackled the swim of 1.2 miles (1.9km) in the pristine waters of the Mediterranean Sea on the Roka swim course, took on a challenging 56.7-mile (91.3km) Ventum bike course leading to the Col de Vence and ran the 13.1-mile (21.1km) HOKA ONE ONE run course along Nice’s historic Promenade des Anglais waterfront. He finished the entire course with a very respectable time of 5:28:57, landing into the 68th percentile of the overall gender group competing.

Going the Extra Mile

Are you looking to integrate sound masking in your next office building project? Are you based in Western Canada or Northwestern US? Whether you’re a facility manager, general contractor, architect, or interior designer—perhaps even a triathlete yourself—take our word for it: Jason is committed to going the extra mile… however tough the challenge you throw at him.
